The Mary Diston was a sternwheeler that caught fire while tied up at Gulfport. She was pushed out from the dock in order to save the dock and other structures. She later sank and became buried in the mud and silt in Boca Ciega Bay. Her location was authenticated during a seismic survey a few years back.
