Stingray-notelse

Swimming in Boca Ciega Bay near the Gulfport shoreline this stingray is on the search for food.  Stingrays area common in the Tampa Bay area.  Although they prefer more brackish water of bays and bayous stingrays can be found in the shallower waters also favored by swimmers and sunbathers.  When entering the water it is a good habit to shuffle your feet in the sand.  This way you will nudge a stingray out of the way rather than stepping squarely on it and risking a painful sting.
