Paying heed to what is described as the most deadly of fishing careers this monument stands on the sponge docks of Tarpon Springs. Although not as dramatic as crab fishing on a wild winter Bearing Sea the dangers faced by sponger fishermen range from decompression, shark attack, to loss of air supply and sudden sporadic thunderstorms.
