During the late summer months the beaches of Treasure Island are home to many sea turtle nests. The eggs hatch usually at night and the small turtles make their way across the long beach to the water. Marked nests like this one will receive assistants from local wildlife groups who protect the nest and check it nightly for evidence of hatching.
