Basking in the sun on the shores of Saint Petersburg’s Booker Creek Park these alligators rest and relax. Although found as far north as North Carolina and to the east as Texas the largest concentration of alligators in the United States is in Florida. Caution you should never get closer than 30 feet (ten meters) to an alligator on land as the can sprint that distance much more quickly than you traveling up to 20 miles per hour (38 km/h)
