In the sidewalks of Gulfport are the impressions of feet made long ago.
Although officially classified as a Tampa neighborhood, historic Ybor City began as a company town for cigar manufacturers in the late 1800′s. Immigrants from Cuba, Italy and Spain settled in the area as workers for the cigar making and distributing businesses.
Ybor City’s Cuban immigrants are credited with the creation of the Cuban Sandwich, a tasty combination of pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and salami on pressed and flattened cuban loaf bread.
